The Season Is Already Over
I opened my fantasy football page to rearrange my team for this week and was surprised that the regular season was already over. What? Already?
It is midway through December. Boy did that go fast.
And then I thought about my life.
A few days ago my oldest little boy was toddling around proudly sporting his red cowboy boots. Oh wait, that was twenty-five years ago. Wow that went fast. Now he has a daughter almost that age.
And its not slowing down. I’ve been at The Bridge for over six years. I still think of myself as a newcomer to the area. My youngest is about to turn eighteen. The nest will soon be empty.
But here’s the big reality. It’s not just that life is moving along at breakneck speed. It will very soon be over altogether.
That’s why there is nothing in the world more important than preparing for eternity. Whatever we do for this life is very temporary. Even the most permanent of things in this life are just…well…in this life. But eternity, that’s forever.
Are you prepared?
We are in the middle of the season of celebrating Jesus’ birth. He came for that very reason…to destroy the curse of death. He lived and died to provide eternal life for you. By believing in him, receiving him as your God and Savior, you gain what he achieved in his resurrection. You can have eternal life by attaching yourself to him by faith. And that’s something that lasts forever.
When I opened my fantasy football page to make adjustments, it was too late. The season was over and there was nothing I could any longer do about the outcome of my team (which was pretty bad). Don’t make that mistake with your life. It will be over before you know it, but you can be prepared. Just attach yourself to Jesus and he’ll take you into the Father’s presence for eternity.
