You Have One Brain

One BrainEverything in life flows from your thinking. You are what you think. Your thinking determines the things you do, your reaction to things done to you, the friends you make, and whether or not you enjoy the things around you. Thinking is everything in life. And all of that thinking comes from your brain. The human brain is the most amazing computer ever devised. But as complex and marvelous as it is, it operates on a very simple principle, input produces output. So what you think about, how you think, and how all of that thinking produces everything in your life, it’s all still controlled by the input. What goes into your brain means everything. What goes into your brain?Sure, you get church once a week. I’m sure that when you miss, you catch up with the sermons on our app. But still, that’s about 40 minutes a week. What else goes into your brain? How much television, what kind of shows? What do you read? What is downloaded into your brain from your internet time? What about your conversations? What kind of thinking from the people you hang out with is transferred into your brain via those conversations? How you think and what you think about is not all of your own accord. It’s impacted in a big way by the influences you surround yourself with: what you look at, read, listen to, interact with. All of that is emptied into your brain. Is it what you want in there?Because you only have one brain. What are you filling it with, and how is that affecting your life?Proverbs 15:14 says, “A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash” (NLT).If you eat a lot of junk food, you know what that does to your body. What kind of food are you feeding your brain and what is that doing to your thinking? This is why daily feeding on God’s Word is such a big deal. It serves as a cleansing agent in our thinking process, and it sets the tone for the things we allow in through the rest of the day. If you don’t have that daily time to read God’s Word, now's the time to set it aside and get started.Because you only have one brain.
