UNSTUCK
I was riding in a car with a friend who was driving on a field, surveying property, when we came across a muddy depression. He hesitated, and slowing down in the mud, the car stopped. He tried gunning it but the wheels just spun. He put it in reverse, then they spun backwards. I got out and tried to push, and you can guess what happened. I simply got muddy myself. We were stuck. We could not go forward. We could not go backward. An hour or so later, it took a tractor to get us out.Ever feel like that in life? Stuck? Spinning your wheels? Going nowhere?Maybe it’s your marriage. It used to be better, but it’s been going nowhere for a while. Maybe your job or career. You used to be excited about it. Now it’s drudgery. Maybe it’s just life in general. You thought you’d be further ahead than this by now, and there doesn’t seem to be any movement. For a lot of people, it’s spiritual….sensing very little in their relationship with God.When we feel stuck, we find ourselves asking—“Where do I go from here? Have I plateaued as a person? Is the best behind me? Is this really it?”You are not alone. A lot of people feel that way right now. But none of us have to!That’s the reason for this sermon series: UNSTUCK: From Stuck To Forward. It’s a verse by verse study through the Book of Philippians. There is more, and you may just find that more awaits by taking the next step into church. Let’s take the journey together!I was recently riding in a different vehicle on that same field, only this time I was driving. It had just rained the night before, and I came across the same depression. But remembering what happened last time, I did not slow down for the mud. I sped up before hitting the soft area and glided right through, and up, back onto the roadway. You don’t have to get stuck, and if you are, you don’t have to stay there. Come to The Bridge for the next 8 weeks as we learn lessons from the Apostle Paul, who had every reason to feel stuck, but refused to stay that way. Bring someone with you and lets all be eager for the next step God has for us!“I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race…” (Philippians 3:13-14 NLT).
